Wow. Time has seemed to virtually zip by over the last few months. You may ask, “What’s new at GMCL?” In response, I would tell you that the state of the library has never been better. We have families engaged in reading to and with their children. We have members of the public using our free resources to look for new jobs and explore new career options. GMCL book lovers always have a great selection of new titles to choose from, or favorite books on the shelves that they can revisit.
One thing we have begun doing is posting monthly infographics offering suggestions on what to read next. These fabulous designs are print ready, and we hope other libraries can use them and repost them to their blogs, or social media accounts.
Another exciting path we are tiptoeing down, is asking high school students to write book reviews for this blog. This week we will post the first of these. Partnering with the students will allow us to offer more content, while helping them hone their writing and analytical skills. I hope you will come back on Thursday to see the first of these reviews.
I trust you and yours had a happy holiday season and are looking forward to a year that includes learning, reading, growing—and—frequent visits to your local library!
